Montenegro Summer Camp for Chamber Music will take place at Ivanova Korita, in the Tourist-education Center Lovćen, from July 30 to August 8, 2024. The thirteenth edition of this project will gather 25 participants who will learn from internationally recognized musicians and university professors: violinist Sreten Krstić and cellist Dmitrii Prokofiev (string and nonstandard ensembles), and oboist Ivana Dakić and clarinetist Veljko Klenkovski (wind and mixed ensembles). After 12 years of intensive and inspiring editions, we are entering a new phase with the aim of gathering the most talented young musicians, mainly university students and advanced high school students (not younger than 16).
The repertoire is adjusted to the age and abilities of the participants, their preferences, and our intention to expand it with the music by contemporary composers from the region (Milan Mihajlović, Ivan Brkljačić, Marko Kovač, Bobana Dabović Đurić, and others).
This year our participants mostly come as individuals. Thus, connecting them and forming ensembles is a particular challenge for us. Due to the lack of quality pianos, this summer we devote our attention to chamber music for string and wind ensembles. This summer, talented accordionists will participate for the first time, trying out different formations and expanding their chamber music experience. Thanks to this, our repertoire is enriched with works by Sofia Gubaidulina, Richard Galliano, and others.
With the desire to promote chamber music among young musicians from Montenegro, the region, and Europe, to contribute to their advancement in this field, and encourage their mutual acquaintance and cooperation, we (as organizers of the project) provide participants with a range of benefits, including free daily lessons with mentors, transportation (on the Podgorica-Ivanova Korita route), and promotion and performances at final concerts in Cetinje (August 7) and Podgorica (August 8), as part of the summer cultural events Summer in the Capital and Podgorica Cultural Summer.
