Violinist

Violinist Marko Simović  began the study of the violin with his father, the violinist and conductor Igor Simović. At age 15, he enrolled in the Music Academy in Cetinje in Montenegro, and graduated with highest marks. Later, as the beneficiary of a scholarship from the Government of Montenegro, he earned his master’s degree from the University of East Sarajevo. He continued his studies, at home and abroad, with Emil Kamilarov, Dina Schneiderman, Irina Iashvili, Florijan Balaž, Sergey Kravchenko and Aleksandar Ostrovsky. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ukraine, Germany and Belgium.

His musical collaborators include the Rubicon String Quartet, the pianists Nikola Vučković, Tatjana Prelević and Bojan Martinović, the violinists Miran Begić and Roman Simović, and ensembles such as the Sergey Smbatiyan Orchestra and the Camerata Academica. He formed the duo MarGo with guitarist Goran Perišić in 2007. Likewise, he continues to play since 2012 in the Triangulum Trio with his wife, the oboist Nadica Ristić Simović, and the pianist Davor Novak. He is one of the founders of the piano trio Luminis, along with pianist Tatjana Prelević and cellist Vladimir Drobnjak.

He has performed at festivals throughout Montenegro, including Barski Ljetopis, AMA Perast, Nikšić Guitar Festival, Days of Music in Herceg Novi, Grad Teatar Budva, Tivat Cultural Summer Festival, and the Espressivo Festival in Cetinje, and at many cultural programs of the Montenegro Ministry of Culture.

He has been devoted to violin pedagogy and teaching since 2003, currently teaches violin at the Vasa Pavić Art School for Music and Ballet. From 2018 he is Assistant Professor of Violin  at the Music Academy of Sarajevo. During the season 2021/22 he served as guest concertmaster of the Montenegro Symphonic Orchestra and Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra.
